CURA is a project extended from my self-driving car research at Cornell Tech. It is a conceptual exploration of how easy it would be for us to carpool with anyone based on common interests. With the ubiquitous presence of self-driving cars, cheap, convenient, and efficient transportation makes shared-vehicle a place where people often access, and thus, generates new forms of social interactions. The numbers of carpools have been growing in recent years thanks to services such as Lyft and Uber. A trip is initiated by the destination of the first passenger, and is shaped by every passenger that have a location in mind. What if, we could start a trip by the purpose of the place, explore and join ride based on a hobby or an experience in ease? Say, Mexican food lunch, Drake’s concert, or a yoga class. A commute would not only be a time-consuming sitting experience but the starting point of a complete experience a location provides. Vehicles would become where new meetups happen.
*** Compare to other projects, this one is less about rigorous design process but more about UI design
Below is the older version of CURA, I revisited this project to improve the design choices.
